Happy Full Moon and My Trouble With Incense

Just a quick note to wish everyone a wonderful Full Moon. I have a different view of the Full Moon, compared to some in the Wiccan community, but I do believe that the moon has an effect on people. Look at all the crazies that come out during this time of the month. If that doesn't prove to anyone that the moon has some kind of power, then I don't know what can. Also the tide is affected by the moon as well.

Another thing has happened during the course of my path, and life. Incense is really starting to bother me. I'm getting a headache burning the incense that I bought two months ago. I did a video about how the incense is affecting me and, even though I didn't get any replies, I really feel that the best course of action is to stop burning incense and burn oil that I bought at the same time that I got the incense. I know that there are many recon and neo-pagan paths that have incense burned as part of their rituals.

But when you can't stand the smell anymore, or the small makes you ill, then sometimes you have to change things. I'm not going to be burning incense for four month, then I'll come back and see what happens. If I get a headache again then I'm going to forgo the incense on a permanent bases. I really do hope that I don't have to do that, but sometimes your health is more important than your spirituality.

Very Late Post: Samhain (2014)

Sorry about this being a late post, but I was just so busy that I didn't have the time to do a post. I'm planning on changing that real soon. First of all, I hope that your Samhain was wonderful. I wasn't going to celebrate Samhain but as it is my people's holiday I decided to go ahead and celebrate it. My personal view about this night is that it was a time when mortality really hit people in the face.

It's not like today, where you can go out and get food from your local store. You had to make due with what you grew and if you didn't have enough, well then you, or someone in your family, died. That's how it was back then. And I think that we've gotten away from that mindset with everything being convenient and not having to worry about death and dying during the winter months. The one time that I really was hit hard on how bad it can get if you don't have heat and food was up in MA when our heat was turned off.

It was hard. Everything was cold, bleak, and not much fun. The cold was suddenly in the house and you could actually freeze to death. I haven't forgotten that lesson, not by a long shot. So this Samhain I wished the dead well, honored those that didn't have anyone to honor them, and thanked my people's gods (the Celts) for what I've been given. I hope that you all have a wonderful month and I'll see you around.

Getting The Druid Primer

I've finally buckled down and bought the book, Kindle of course, and I really liked what I had read in the sample. That's one of the great things about having samples, you can read it before you commit yourself into buying it. Now I'm not saying that I'm a Druid, but I wanted to read this book for awhile. And hopefully I'll have a good review of the book when I'm done with it.

I also have another book that's only a sample. It's called The Druidry Handbook. I'm getting that book once I'm done with this book. Personally having to spend $2.99 for the digital copy isn't that bad. It's better than some of the prices for Druid books. So once I'm done I will be doing a book review of the book and hopefully it will be great. I'll see you all around and I promise that I will post on Samhain.

Being An Everyday Pagan

I was thinking about what to write about and I decided to write about being an everyday pagan. Being one everyday seems like a very easy thing to do, but it turns out not to be. There are many things out there that makes being a everyday pagan hard. One of them is your family. Even if your no longer at home, when they come over they are introduced to your path. It's sometimes very hard to keep that from them, as sometimes they do like to show up unannounced.

One of the things that I do to be an everyday pagan is doing small rituals daily. It can sometimes be a prayer to the Egyptian gods that I honor on a daily bases or even to the goddess Bridget. I also thank the spirits of the earth for all the wonderful things that they have given me. I have two altars. One of them is my main altar that I have for my Egyptian practices and the other is one for Bridget. It's not a large altar, just a small one that I have on my computer table.

I light candles to her, burn incense, things like that. When I feel the need to do some Hedgewitchery work I will do it at my Bridget altar. The small things that I've done has helped a great deal in my personal practice and I'm glad or any time that I have to be with my gods, either Egyptian or Celtic. Of course one of the things that I hear a lot of is 'I can't be an everyday pagan because I just don't have time.' Well you make time, this isn't a lay back religion. This is something that, if your serious, you make the damn time.

I'm not being mean because I want to be mean. When I decided to be not only a serious pagan, but an everyday pagan, I said that I would make the time to practice even if it's praying to them or meditating. I know the gods are happy that I'm doing this in a way that makes it real for me.

Until then, everyone.

My Altar For Celebrating Hecate (August 2014)

So I've decided to post my altar photo so that you all can see my altar all lit up. I think seeing the candles burning really brings this spiritual connection to anyone that sees them. Altars, of course, are the centerpiece of most pagans and a lot of them can't imagine living without one in their home. So here's mine, to Hecate, and I hope that you like it.

Honoring Hecate and Remembering Pompeii

Tonight I'm going to be doing some cleaning of my devotional altar and emptying my jar that has my barley grains in them. Incense burner will be emptied into the trash and then cleaned out. It's also a time to purify the house so that good things will continue coming into the house. Today also has a another meaning to those that practice Hellenic anything. Today is the 1, 935th anniversary of the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Thousands of people died because they didn't understand that their mountain brought death. I really feel sorry for them and any other people that suffer at the hands of these mountains of death. But, we have learned a lot from what they have left behind and I'm planning to do a ritual just for them. May they rest in peace after all this time.

Honoring Hecate is the most important thing that I can do during the whole month. She has brought me great joy and luck in my life and I want to repay that. I know that many Hellenists out there don't like her due to what the Wiccans have done, but I don't hold that against her. I think not honoring her is telling her that your no longer good enough to be honored because your now a Wiccan goddess. Below is a good documentry that I've found about the last day of Pompeii.

Have a great day

New Book and Working On My Bridget Altar

It's been sometime since I decided to do something with the plaque of Bridget that I bought months ago. I've finally figured out where I want to put her and I have a tiny altar going on to her. This is the place where I'll do my witchy stuff, instead of turning my devotional altar into a witchy altar. Yeah, I know, I'm confusing people. On another note: I've got a new book that I checked out from the Library. It's called Pagan Every Day and there's one thing to do, everyday, that's suppose to help you with your path, deepen your connection to your spirit, and help you out over all.

Now I've only done one of the rituals, but I really felt this something when I did it. I just loved the feeling that I got and that makes me want to do it again. So this time I'm suppose to do a ritual to Vertumnus, Nemesis, and Moirai. The Vertumnus was Etruscan, a culture that was defeated by the Romans. They took their gods and put them with their own. Which, of course, was just nature worship and spirits; stuff like that. Nemesis was the Greek god of revenge, but she also was defender of divine law, and the speaker of divine anger. She balanced things out.

Moirai represented youth, maturity, and old age. All wrapped up into one. I'm planning on writing down the rituals until I can get my hands on a copy. It's going to take time, but I know that I'll be able to get it done. And then, everyday, I will blog about what happened and let you know how I felt doing it. Going back to the Bridget Altar. I don't really believe in huge altars that are cluttered with stuff.

I think that nice and simple does the trick. But I do want to get something to prop my Tarot card that I will be drawing. I do plan to get back to honoring her and I'm going to give her offerings. Now, I'm not abandoning the Greek gods. They've helped me. But I want to honor the Celtic gods a bit more. Well hope that you have a nice day and I'll see you tomorrow.

Being Silent On Bridget

It's been over a month since I last posted and I guess I just needed a break from everything. I took a break from Bridget and now I'm back to blog more often. I don't know why I took a break from Bridget, from honoring her, but I just felt the need to do that. I feel as though I really don't know my path, that I keep jumping around. Others have no problem staying with the path that they've chosen but I happen to be one of those that can't stick with anything anymore.

I'm not giving up this blog, but I'm thinking about making it a bit more tiny then I have. A little spot where I can honor Bridget and not take up any room. I'll let you all know more about what I'm doing soon enough.

Full Moon (July 2014)

Tonight is the Full Moon and it's suppose to be a Super Moon. While I'm a fan of huge moons, I really believe that this moon is going to be just like all the others. The reason for this is that we were all told about the special 'moon' a couple of months ago. All blood red and everything. Well we got a white moon, nothing special happened.

That really made me feel disappointed but it also instilled me into this belief about why people get all excited, upset, about these moons. Moons, no matter who you are, play a very important role in the here and now. The Full Moon enabled hunters to hunt for food and the moon is important in Jewish tradition as the Sabbath falls on the Full Moon on Friday night. In ancient times the night was considered the beginning of the day and the daytime coming to a close was considered the end of the day.

The Jewish calender uses the moon to determine when a year begins. Christians, even though they are against moon worship, use the moon to determine when events in the Bible are going to happen. They look up to the moon as a sign of what will be happening. As a Celtic Pagan I look at the moon as separate from Celtic worship. There were no moon goddess in Celtic paganism and that was only introduced when the Romans came. I will honor the moon for the reasons that people in Africa look, and honor, the moon.

As an easy way to illuminate the darkness and help us all survive. Have a good Full Moon.

One Of The Problems Of Any Path

One of the things that I've discovered about any path is the one main problem. Now it's not always the same problem but it's the main problem. In neo-pagan form of a path it's expensive supplies and in recon path, it's trying to practice a path that sometimes has huge holes in it or has too much information. One side attacks the other and it creates a whole new set of problems. That's one of the reasons that I'm not a fan of the recon path, but I won't attack those that find beauty in it.

I use to be a Celtic recon, until I discovered that the recons in that path love to attack those that don't follow how they think a person should practice. When you claim to be a Druid, no matter how long you've been practicing, there will be others that will say that what your doing isn't how 'real' druids practiced. The dogma and the attack by others is almost enough to make someone walk away from religion. I follow my own path, I don't care what others think, and I don't have to defend myself from anyone.

I glare at those that attack me, others, and so on. And, in the end, it will be those that push the gods forward that will benefit from their grace, presence, and beauty.

Welcome To My Blog

Since this is my first post, I would like to welcome everyone that comes and enjoys what I'm writing. This blog is a continuing of a blog that I started on blog.com but had gotten deleted two months ago. In this blog I'm going to be talking about the gods, my path, the different festivals, and even recipes. I think that blog writing is important as it helps those understand who you are and what you believe. I hope that you enjoy your time here.
