I was thinking about what to write about and I decided to write about being an everyday pagan. Being one everyday seems like a very easy thing to do, but it turns out not to be. There are many things out there that makes being a everyday pagan hard. One of them is your family. Even if your no longer at home, when they come over they are introduced to your path. It's sometimes very hard to keep that from them, as sometimes they do like to show up unannounced.
One of the things that I do to be an everyday pagan is doing small rituals daily. It can sometimes be a prayer to the Egyptian gods that I honor on a daily bases or even to the goddess Bridget. I also thank the spirits of the earth for all the wonderful things that they have given me. I have two altars. One of them is my main altar that I have for my Egyptian practices and the other is one for Bridget. It's not a large altar, just a small one that I have on my computer table.
I light candles to her, burn incense, things like that. When I feel the need to do some Hedgewitchery work I will do it at my Bridget altar. The small things that I've done has helped a great deal in my personal practice and I'm glad or any time that I have to be with my gods, either Egyptian or Celtic. Of course one of the things that I hear a lot of is 'I can't be an everyday pagan because I just don't have time.' Well you make time, this isn't a lay back religion. This is something that, if your serious, you make the damn time.
I'm not being mean because I want to be mean. When I decided to be not only a serious pagan, but an everyday pagan, I said that I would make the time to practice even if it's praying to them or meditating. I know the gods are happy that I'm doing this in a way that makes it real for me.
Until then, everyone.
